Robert became involved in the lawmaking process over 30 years ago when legislation was filed that would have greatly impacted a company he owned in the advertising sector.  He helped create an industry association and an advocacy arm to organize and inform those in his industry of the risks they faced from policy proposals. He has walked the halls of the NCGA to communicate with lawmakers and influence policy since Governor Jim Hunt’s tenure of the 1990s.

Robert speaks the language of business, and he is a serial entrepreneur who has started, bought and sold multiple companies.  In his most recent transaction, he completed an exit of Riley (Patriot) Outdoor to Adams Outdoor, the 4th largest out-of-home advertising operator in the U.S.  His policy expertise includes Business Development, Transportation, Environmental Issues, Healthcare, Higher Education and JPS.

He currently serves on the State Board of the North Carolina Community College System, and he is a graduate of East Carolina University.
